Piratpartiet står i solidaritet med det iranska folket i deras kamp för frihet. Den iranska regimen har, på flertalet sätt, förgripit sig på sina medborgares rättigheter.
Irans så kallade moralpolis förföljer och fängslar personer som bryter mot landets islamska klädkodslagar, begränsar deras möjligheter att uttrycka sig och deras rätt till kroppslig integritet. De går så långt som att använda dödligt våld mot kvinnor som bär hijab på fel sätt.
När detta skrivs har minst 215 personer, varav 27 barn, dödats av de iranska säkerhetsstyrkorna sedan protesterna började den 16 september 2022.
I ett försök att försvåra demonstranternas organisering och begränsa spridning av information, bland annat om regimens brott mot mänskliga rättigheter, initierade regimen en nationell nedsläckning av internet.
Vi i Piratpartiet fördömer den iranska regimens handlingar . Vi står upp för alla människors rätt till yttrandefrihet, rätt till uttryck och information – i Sverige och världen, online och offline.
Vi har därför beslutat att uttrycka vår solidaritet med det iranska folkets frihetskamp genom att tillfälligt släcka ner vår hemsida.
Med denna, jämförelsevis minimala, uppoffring, hoppas vi sprida medvetenhet om situationen i Iran, och hur lätt även vi kan bli berövade tillgång till information. Vi uppmanar dig som står bakom dessa värden och detta meddelande att göra detsamma, under hashtagen #släcknerförIran #blackoutforIran.

Statement regarding the 2022 Iranian protests
The Swedish Pirate Party stands in solidarity with the Iranian people in their struggle for liberation. The Iranian regime is, in a multitude of ways, violating the civil and political rights of its citizens.
The so-called morality police are persecuting those who resist the islamic dress code, restricting their right to freedom of expression and bodily integrity, and going so far as to utilize lethal violence against women guilty of no other crime than “improper” wearing of the hijab.
At the time of writing this, at least 215 people, 27 of whom were children, have been killed by the Iranian security forces since the protests began on the 16th of September 2022.
In an attempt to limit the spread of information and by extension the awareness of its human rights abuses, the Iranian regime have initiated a nationwide blackout much like they did during the 2019–2020 Iranian protests.
We, the Swedish Pirate Party, condemn the aforementioned actions by the Iranian regime. We stand for the right of all people to freedom of speech and freedom of expression – in Sweden as well as abroad, online as well as offline.
We have therefore decided to express our solidarity with the struggles of the Iranian people by temporarily shutting down access to our website, leaving only this message.
By this, in comparison miniscule, sacrifice, we hope to spread awareness of the situation in Iran, and of how easily we, too, can have our access to information be taken away. We call upon anyone who stands by this message to do the same under the hashtag #blackoutforIran.
